Bleak Winter

A bit more of a side project, this will be a Web Novel released chapter by chapter on sites like Wattpad and Reddit. This horror series is about the small Wyoming town called Pleasantville in December of 2001. Despite being cutoff from the rest of the world, this town is known for it’s beautiful mountains, vast mines filled with beautiful jewels, and the unsettling feeling that you’re always being watched. See, this town is home to a sleuth of horrifying creatures and strange mutations, and a Mysterious Masked figure looks to expose it all to both the residents, and the world.
This story was inspired by many other small town horror stories, such as Netflix’s Stranger Things, Stephen King’s It, and the Silent Hill video games by Konami. The story will follow a group of middle school kids trying to figure out just what is going on in the place they call home. Though this story mainly stands out due to its setting. The winter season allows for a cold and unsettling atmosphere that endangers both the lives and stability for the people of Pleasantville. With the story taking place in 2001, it also draws a lot from the post 9/11 fear and trauma the country was undergoing at the time, from everyone being afraid of another attack, the people giving up their rights for safety and security, and the unending patriotism the country felt it needed to show in such an uncertain time.

UPDATE: Pilot Screenplay in Progress!

Life has been quite busy these past few months, with things getting busy at my day job, working on my TTRPG, and I’ve started attending a Fitness Boxing class to stay in shape! Thanks to all of this, my work on the novel has slowed down quite a bit, something I’ve put on the back burner for more immediate projects. However, since I have a lot more experience with the screenplay format, I’ve decided to write a TV show pilot out of the first few chapters! It’s been a very interesting experience translating all the pros into something more concise and visual. Once complete, I’m hoping the pilot will entice to check out the novel, as well as get invested in the mystery. If it goes over well, I may just pivot to writing the whole series in screenplay format!

The Enlightening

A full-length horror film that uses tone, setting, and atmosphere to create a compelling story with a low budget. A girl named June has been suffering from high anxiety disorder her whole life, and her older sister, April decides to take her to a music festival so she can get out of her shell before college. But when a strange unseen creature that moves through the ground chases June and her group deep into the nearby woods in the dead of night, the girl must overcome her constant worry and stress so she can formulate a plan to get herself as well as he family and friends back to safety. This film uses the environment of a dark endless woods that are home to a threat you can’t see to symbolize the constant stress and worry June faces, as just like the characters the audience has no idea where the creature could be and when it will pop up.

UPDATE: SCREENPLAY COMPLETE

As of February 2023, both the first and second drafts of The Enlightening have been completed are being submitted to contests and producers. Some contests you can see it in include The Titan Awards, HorrOrigins Film Festival, and First Look Project. Be on the lookout to see if the Screenplay gets any recognition in these or other contests.

UPDATE: The Enlightening Review

On 6/24/2023, The Enlightening received and officially published review by the Golden Script Competition. While they did have some critiques, mainly due to the pacing of the first act and the relative passivity of the main character in the first two acts, the review was still overall positive and received a lot of praise for it’s originality and atmosphere. Feel free to read the review yourself!

Special thanks to the people at The Golden Script Competition for reviewing the Enlightening!

Unlikely Heroes

This film is more of a fun blockbuster that takes interesting and unique characters through an action-packed setting that challenges how much hope can lead people forward when the world is in shambles. In a world where superheroes are as common as the police, a recent alien invasion has wiped out all the major heroes for the world’s most popular team, The Crusaders. With their biggest obstacle out of the way, the aliens have begun taking over, but hope still reigns in the form of an escaped convict that wants to see his son, the twelve-year-old daughter of two legendary humans, and her nanny that wields a grenade launcher that really packs a punch. These unlikely heroes have many clashing ideals, but if they want to survive this invasion, they’ll have to put their differences aside and work as a team to fight the aliens and take back the earth.
